I just turned 29 yesterday and am enjoying life here in Springfield, Illinois. I have worked at Lincoln Land Community College as a system administrator in the IT department for the last 9 years and decided to go back to school to give myself more career flexibility. I love to learn new things, and consequently, have been taking college courses for as long as I can remember. I’m majoring in history, which eventually, will compliment the copious amount of travel I’m planning, but for now, merely allows for me to be a decent trivia player at Buffalo Wild Wings. While my main focus is on History, I also picked up associate degrees in computer networking and biology just for kicks. I like all kinds of books, ranging from historical biographies to the classics and have set the likely unattainable goal of reading fifty this year.
I love to travel, and with the financial drain of the first year of home ownership behind me, hope to be able to journey abroad at least once a year from here on out. It’s a good plan on paper, but life has a way of screwing up the best-laid plans, so we shall see. I have had the good fortune to travel to London, Paris, Brussels, Rome and many places in between. I’ve been to Hawaii and much of the Caribbean including: Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Dominica, St. Thomas, Barbados, and Aruba. I had to sit the last year out, but just got back from a September trip to the UK. With any luck, I will be back in Europe next May for a trip down the Rhine. That will only leave me with Greece, Egypt, China, India, Russia, Peru, Brazil, Spain, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, the Galapagos, and an African Safari with a climb up Kilimanjaro. Hopefully I will live long enough to fit it all in…
Here is me at the World Series last year, I'm on the left.
